How we picked (and how you should)

A tool makes this list only if it earns a place in a real workflow. Our criteria:

  • Output quality you'd publish under a brand name without apology.
  • Indian use cases, Hindi and Hinglish support, Indian accents, pricing that makes sense for a creator or small team.
  • Commercial rights on the plan you'll actually use.
  • Workflow fit, exports, APIs or integrations so it doesn't become a dead end.
  • Staying power, active development and a clear business.

Your rule of thumb: one primary tool per job, and pay only for the job that bottlenecks you.

1. Writing and thinking

Claude

Our default for long-form drafting, editing and matching a founder's voice. Projects let you store a voice guide, examples and brand documents so every chat starts with context. It's particularly good at following detailed style rules and at critiquing a draft honestly. Free plan exists with usage limits; heavy daily users will want Pro.

ChatGPT

The most versatile all-rounder: writing, brainstorming, image generation, file analysis and custom GPTs you can share with a team. OpenAI has run India-specific pricing and promotions for its Go plan, so check what's currently offered in INR before choosing a tier.

Gemini

Strongest if you live in Google Workspace, drafts in Docs, research with long documents, YouTube and Search context. Gems work like reusable assistants. Google's AI subscription plans also bundle access to Flow for video, which matters if you plan to use both.

Pick one as your main writer. Prompt quality matters more than the model; our prompt engineering guide has copy-paste templates.

2. Design and images

Canva AI

Still the fastest route from idea to a finished LinkedIn carousel, Instagram post or YouTube thumbnail, especially with a brand kit. The free plan includes a small number of AI uses; Pro gives roughly ten times more AI allowance plus premium assets. Canva prices in India differ from US pricing, so check the INR plan.

Ideogram

Our pick when an image needs readable text in it, posters, quote cards, ad concepts. Free accounts get weekly credits but images are public; paid plans add private generation and more priority credits.

Leonardo

Good for stylised, consistent visuals and training your own models on a look. The free tier gives daily tokens and a non-exclusive commercial licence; paid plans grant full ownership of outputs, per Leonardo's pricing page.

3. Video generation

Google Flow

Google's filmmaking tool built around its Veo video models, with scene building and native audio. It's officially available in India for users aged 18+ (Google Flow Help). There's limited free access; serious use needs a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan.

Runway

A complete generative video studio: its own Gen-4.5 model plus third-party models such as Kling, and editing tools like upscaling. Free accounts get 125 one-time credits, enough to test, not to produce. Standard is $15/month billed monthly.

Kling

Excellent realistic motion and value for money. Kling VIDEO 3.0 adds native audio with lip-sync, multi-shot generation and clips of up to 15 seconds, according to Kling's own guide. Paid plans start at Standard ($6.99/month) and all paid tiers include commercial use.

Higgsfield

A multi-model studio that puts models such as Sora, Veo, Kling and Seedance behind one interface, with strong preset camera moves for ad-style shots. Useful if you want to compare models without five subscriptions. Treat it as a paid tool; credits don't roll over month to month on subscription plans, so size your plan carefully.

HeyGen (avatar video)

Different job: videos of you talking, without filming. Upload footage, create a custom avatar and generate talking-head videos from a script, in 175+ languages and dialects on paid plans. Free gives 3 videos a month up to a minute; Creator is $29/month. See our step-by-step on how to make an AI avatar video and what it realistically costs in India.

4. Voice, audio and music

ElevenLabs

The benchmark for natural AI voiceovers, including Hindi. Free includes 10k credits a month; Starter ($6/month) adds a commercial licence and instant voice cloning, and Creator adds professional voice cloning. Pair it with HeyGen for avatar videos in your own voice.

Wispr Flow

Not a voice generator, a dictation tool that turns speech into clean text in any app, on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, with 100+ languages listed (Wispr Flow pricing). Creators use it to talk through scripts and posts at walking pace. Test your Hinglish before paying; the free cap of 2,000 words a week on desktop runs out fast.

Suno

Generates full songs and background tracks from a prompt. The catch for creators: the free plan has no commercial rights, so anything used on a monetised channel or brand account needs Pro ($8/month) or above.

5. Repurposing

OpusClip

Upload a podcast, webinar or YouTube video and get short vertical clips with captions and a virality score. Free exports carry a watermark; Starter removes it. Always review the AI's clip choices, it favours energy over insight, and your best moment is often a quiet one.

A practical repurposing chain we use: long video → OpusClip clips → Claude writes LinkedIn and Instagram captions from the transcript → Canva for a carousel version of the key framework.

6. Automation and AI agents

n8n

The glue. n8n connects your tools into pipelines, for example, WhatsApp voice note → transcription → AI draft → approval → content calendar. The self-hosted Community Edition is free; cloud plans start at Starter (€20/month) and charge per workflow execution. We cover real examples in n8n automation ideas for Indian businesses.

Manus

A general-purpose AI agent that handles multi-step tasks such as research, building documents or drafting a competitor analysis. Its corporate situation shifted in 2026: Meta agreed to acquire it, then reports in June said the deal was being unwound after Chinese regulatory objections. The product is live, but plans and regional availability have been changing, so don't build a critical workflow on it without a backup.

Free-plan traps to watch

  • Commercial rights. Suno's free plan doesn't allow commercial use. Read the licence before a brand deal.
  • Watermarks. OpusClip free exports are watermarked.
  • Public by default. Ideogram's free generations are public, not ideal for unreleased client work.
  • Expiring credits. Several tools, including Runway on some plans and Higgsfield subscriptions, don't roll credits over. Buy for the volume you actually produce.
  • USD billing. Foreign currency charges on Indian cards can add markup and GST. Prefer INR plans or app-store billing where offered.

Mistakes creators make with AI tools

  1. Subscribing to five video tools. Test on free credits, then commit to one or two.
  2. Publishing raw output. AI drafts are starting points. Edit for your voice and fact-check every claim.
  3. Cloning a voice or face without consent. Only clone yourself or people who have given explicit permission, and follow each platform's rules.
  4. Ignoring the workflow. The time saving comes from connecting tools. Across our production work, systemising steps like this has cut production time by an estimated 40%.
  5. Chasing every launch. A new model drops weekly. Upgrade when it solves a problem you have.
Key takeaways
  • Choose one tool per job: writing, design, video, voice, repurposing, automation.
  • For most Indian creators, the first paid plan should be a writing assistant or whatever removes your biggest bottleneck.
  • Check commercial rights, watermarks and credit expiry before relying on a free plan.
  • All prices here are as of September 2026; confirm on official pricing pages and look for INR billing.
  • Connecting tools with automation saves more time than adding another tool.

Frequently asked questions

Which AI tool is best for content creators in India?

There is no single best tool. Use one per job: Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini for writing; Canva AI for design; Kling, Runway or Google Flow for video; HeyGen for avatar videos; ElevenLabs for voiceovers; OpusClip for repurposing; and n8n to automate the workflow.

Which AI tools are free for content creation?

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Canva, Ideogram, Leonardo, ElevenLabs, HeyGen, OpusClip, Suno and Wispr Flow all have free tiers, and n8n's self-hosted Community Edition is free. Free plans have limits such as watermarks, public outputs, capped credits or no commercial rights.

What is the best AI tool for Hindi voiceovers?

ElevenLabs is our first choice for natural Hindi voiceovers and voice cloning, available from its Starter plan. For videos of yourself speaking Hindi, pair an ElevenLabs voice with a HeyGen avatar. Always listen for pronunciation of names and English words mixed into Hinglish scripts.

Can I use AI-generated music and videos commercially?

It depends on the plan. Suno's free plan has no commercial rights while Pro does. Kling includes commercial use on paid plans. Leonardo's free tier gives a non-exclusive commercial licence. Check each tool's current terms before using outputs in brand or monetised content.

Is Google Flow available in India?

Yes. According to Google Flow Help, India is a supported country and users must be 18 or older. Free access is limited; regular video production needs a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription for more credits and higher quality generations.

How much should a creator spend on AI tools per month?

Start at zero and pay only for your bottleneck. Many creators need just one writing assistant plan plus one production tool, often under what a single freelance edit costs. Add tools when free limits genuinely slow you down, and cancel anything unused for a month.

Is Manus still available in 2026?

Yes, Manus remains live, but its ownership changed during 2026 after Meta's acquisition was reportedly unwound following Chinese regulatory objections. Plans and regional availability have shifted, so check its official site before subscribing and keep backups of important outputs.

Deepanshu Singh co-founded LZ Worth, a Delhi studio that builds AI automations, apps and content systems. He has tested more than 150 AI tools and would rather tell you which ones to skip. More about him.

Not sure which tool fits your workflow?

Ask me about any of them. I've paid for most, and I'll tell you which ones I cancelled.
